Luck, WI
Hey Ellis! Is there any chance you want to visit Luck THIS winter? We might even have snow for skiing one of these years. (I figure if I keep begging, we might actually get to have a concert up here eventually.) :)
We were excited to see an upcoming Cities 97 show at MIA in November. We'll see you then!

I love your music...your voice is so soulful and it's enchanting. Your song "City on Fire" is my anthem for peace and why this war needs to end and the selfishness and thoughtlessness of the American people. We are the only ones going through this; there are millions of innocent people that are suffering every day but we can only remember our own innocent fallen. *Sigh* Will it ever change? Your song is just a testiment to the way some of us feel and it makes me feel better. :) Beautiful music, Ellis.

Hey Dear Ellis,
I'm just thinking of you and seeing what you're up to, sending a hug, enjoying all the comments and especially enjoying just knowing you're out there doing your intensely beautiful thing. All's well here, lots of painting. The Babe thing sounds like a great adventure. Ann

Ellis - When I left for michfest last week, I recognized almost none of the performers and headed out in a state of hopeful anticipation, knowing that mich is so much more than the music alone and yet still hoping to be touched by the right music at the right time. Thank you so much for fulfilling that hope for me! Sections of "how would it be" and "red light" have been running circles in my head for days now. These songs, in particular, grip me deeply in that bittersweet way of beauty that is so intense that it hurts... that sort of captures the whole of michfest too, in a way. It was a delight to discover your music. thank you.

Hi Jesse. I'm so glad you caught the show at Michigan :-) Yay! You are welcome and I'm happy my songs are keeping you company.

Well Hello Ellis,
What a wonderful web site! I'm excited to leave a message for you!... I met you at the Michigan Womyns Music festival this past week. I must tell you, although I mentioned it all ready, that your music is amazing. I was sitting at the acoustic stage anticipating your performance, because I had yet to hear you, and wow! I'm not going to lie, I started crying. It touched such a deep place in my heart. I've never experienced that before and I thank you. Your music is unexplainably inspiring. The guitar and your words compliment and flow so well.
I feel so grateful. I went to Michigan with the intent of finding something to inspire my own dreams, and I have definitely found it. Thank you, for being real, and singing from your heart...

Ellis's concert in Littleton

It was a blast getting to meet and chat with you. What a wonderful concert you did. It's hard to convey how you come across but "singing your heart in every song" certainly fits. I love your new powerful songs too...esp. just a little more time. Truly a memorable experience.

Hey Ellis,
This is Ned from Pakistan (commented in your guestbook some time back) -- I was unable to catch you in New York this year because I was travelling back home, but I'm hoping you'll be in New York again at some point so I can catch your performance.
I must say that your music has deeply affected me and I find that you (whether you're conscious of it or not) often tap into really profound spiritual insights. For instance, "Break the Spell" reminded me of both the Buddhist notion of "samsara" and the Vedantic concept of "Maya" -- the idea that superficial appearances are a kind of an illusion that hide both our true selves and a truer perception of reality from us.
As a spiritual person devoted to yoga and Eastern philosophy myself, I've found your music very inspiring -- it's both earthy and grounded, and yet manages to touch something of that Mystery that is constantly there at our core. Well done, and best of luck with everything!

Hi Ned. Thank you for your thoughtful and beautiful note. I do practice Vipassana meditation and hold a great reverence for deep understanding about the way things are. Perhaps that does come out a bit in my songs ;-)!
